Selected as this is a very well-maintained Castels site in a rural location 15-minutes from the nearest beaches. You are welcomed by an impressive tree-lined avenue and view of the château to an extensive estate. You can always find a quiet spot by one of the four lakes ideal also for fishing and boating. The stone faced outbuildings house the restaurant and bar. Regarded by many as one of the best campsites in the Vendée, there is a lot of repeat business and the customers are mostly English and Dutch. The general feeling of spaciousness is a big plus and the staff are always very helpful and efficient. There are now separate cycle and pedestrian routes linking all the main services. All buildings and activities except the lakes have been adapted for the disabled including an automatic hoist at the swimming pool and headphones for the hard of hearing in the reception. The site is running a shuttle bus service to Bretignolles-sur-Mer twice a week for a small charge. *Clef Verte* Label Tourisme et Handicap. The site has recently been awarded the European Eco-label.

A new sandy beach area has been created by the lake. You can access the private 1000 m2 beach via a path from the site. The water of the lake is clear and chlorine free and the water filtration process is 100% environmentally friendly. The lake faces south and is about 90cm deep ideal for recreational bathing. Walks around the lake area. Picnic tables by lakes. Cycle hire. Mini-golf. Two tennis courts called Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Horse and pony riding with qualified instructors all season. Site run children's clubs: The Kids' Club 4 - 12 yrs June till Sept. Teens Club for 12-16 yrs in high season only. In July and August, football-training meetings for children from 5 to 16 years old with charge. These meetings are every day except Friday. Morning meeting: 10 am to 12 pm. Afternoon meeting: 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Sporting competitions for the family during the day and evening entertainment which includes discos, quizzes and a variety of visiting musicians as well as night swimming and wine tasting.

From La Roche-sur-Yon. Take the N160 in the direction of Les Sables d'Olonne and La Mothe Achard. Turn in to the centre of La Mothe Achard after approximately 18km and follow signs to St-Julien-des-Landes. Go through the village and fork right to La Chapelle-Hermier as you exit, following signs to the site. The campsite is to your right after 2km.
