Selected primarily because of its proximity to the magnificent Puy du Fou theme park and the fact that it accepts short stays even in its on-site accommodation. It also has a large outdoor and indoor pool, ideal for a swim at the end of a busy day sightseeing. The site is situated in the heart of the Vendee countryside right next to the old railway station of Chambreteau where a passenger steam train still operates for tourists from June to September. Not recommended for long stays because of some road noise.

Visitors to the Puy du Fou
One-bedroomed studios. Two-bedroomed chalets. Two- and three-bedroomed mobilehomes. Some residential pitches.
Mixture of flat and gently sloping sunny pitches. They are grassy, divided by shrubs and up to 120m². The mobile homes and chalets tend to be towards the back of the site.

Le Puy du Fou is just 1km from the campsite. A steam train operates on the disused railway line next to the campsite 3 times per week in the summer. The vineyards of Muscadet and Gros Plants Nantais are close by.

Small food shop - Order bread in the day before. Fresh products meat and dairy. Regional and local products. Small supermarket in Chambretaud 2km. Bar situated in one of the old station buildings, snack and take-away with very basic menu. Breakfast can also be served. Fridge hire. Barbecues not allowed. Dogs accepted. WiFi with charge on all pitches.

Large outdoor pool 150m² with generous sunbathing area and sunloungers, heated at weekends in June and during July/August. Children's pool. Brand new attractive indoor pool with jacuzzi open April - October. It is an excellent size for swimming and stays open until 10pm. Water temperature 28°, room temperature 27°.
Three respectable toilet blocks, one small one near the bar, one at the far end of the site, and one in the middle which can be heated in low season. No toilet paper. Push button showers, no temperature control with hooks and a shelf in main block. Two larger blocks have separate ladies and gents. Individual wash cubicles. Washing machine and tumble dryer.
From the A83 take the A87 towards Angers & Cholet. After 25km take exit 28 toward Pouzauges/Mortagne-sur-Sèvre/La Verrie/Le Puy-du-Fou. After the péage take the second exit on the D72. At the next roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the D160 ramp to La Roche-sur-Yon/Chambretaud/Les Herbiers/Pouzauge. You join the D160 and continue along this road for 5.5km and then turn onto D27 in the direction of La Gaubretière/Chambretaud/Pouzauges. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the D27. Continue through 2 more roundabouts and the campsite entrance is on your right after 3km.
