Normandy
Selected as this site right next to the Pegasus bridge is an ideal spot for an overnight stop in low season for the Caen/Ouistreham ferry. A gateway at the bottom of the site gives direct access to the canal and a cycle track which takes you to the centre of Caen in one direction and to Ouistreham with its lively bars and restaurants in the other. Although the sanitary facilities need updating, it is definitely the best site in the immediate area. When arriving late off the afternoon ferry from Portsmouth it is essential to book in advance as the reception will be closed and the barrier down. The barrier opens early enough in the morning for the early ferry. From 10th July to 20th August, the minimum booking period is two nights but it is worth a short stay to visit the Caen Memorial museum and D-day landing beaches. The enormous number of residential pitches means that the site is only recommended for one or two night stays.

Two old rather basic unisex toilet blocks at top of site could do with renovating, although they are acceptable. Toilets without toilet paper. Push button showers - no temperature control with hook. Individual wash cubicles. The third block near the best pitches is just a small portakabin and not particularly well appointed. Chemical disposal point. Laundry room.
