Ardeche, Aveyron and Tarn
Selected because of its delightful location in a wooded valley, 350m high and because of its direct access to the Tarn river. The pebbly beach stretches the length of the site and the river is shallow enough to bathe. The stunning rocks opposite the site offer magnificent views and are home to nesting vultures. The Peyrelade château towers over the site on the opposite side of the road. A great spot for canoeing with some interesting rapids further upstream, it is also a perfect centre for exploring this fascinating region. Do remember to bring rubber shoes for bathing in the river.
